The goal of the 29 card game is to be the first team to accumulate 6 points. Typically, four players in fixed partnerships, sitting opposite each other, engage in this game. It uses 32 cards from a standard 52-card deck, with eight cards per suit: Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs, and Spades. In 29, the card rankings from high to low are: J-9-A-10-K-Q-8-7.
Players bid to set a target for themselves and strive to achieve it. The winner of the bid gets to choose the trump suit. The game flows counter-clockwise, starting with the player to the right of the dealer. If a player cannot follow suit, they must play a trump card if possible. The winner of each trick leads to the next, and scoring is based on the point values of the cards captured in the tricks. The aim is to secure tricks with high-value cards.

- Jacks = 3 points each
- Nines = 2 points each
- Aces = 1 point each
- Tens = 1 point each
- Other cards (K, Q, 8, 7) = no points
