Una base de fans dedicada continúa mejorando la experiencia Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, creando sus propias remasterizaciones para abordar las deficiencias de la versión oficial. La impresionante remasterización de Shapatar XT, que incorpora más de 50 modificaciones, es un excelente ejemplo.

El proyecto va más allá de simples mejoras gráficas. Shapatar XT abordó el infame problema de los "árboles voladores" optimizando la carga del mapa, avisando a los jugadores con antelación sobre los obstáculos. La vegetación del juego también se beneficia de importantes mejoras.
