The Kiwanis Club of New Kingston (KCNK) is excited to offer the KCNK Little Bee Spelling App, a fun and educational tool for kids aged 4 to 9. This app, sponsored by Grace Kennedy Money Services (GKMS) and Western Union (WU), brings the popular Primary & Prep school spelling bee competition right to your fingertips!
The KCNK Little Bee Game is perfect for on-the-go learning, as it can be played anywhere without an internet connection. It features three engaging modes: Learning Mode 1, Learning Mode 2, and Competition Mode, each with 10 levels. As kids progress through the levels, the words get longer and more challenging, with each level containing 15 or more words to master. The same set of words is used across all modes for each level.
In the Settings menu, students can personalize their experience by entering their name, age, parish, and school. They can then choose their preferred mode to start spelling.
Learning Mode 1 helps students learn to spell by tapping each letter of the word from left to right. The app audibly pronounces each letter, allowing children to repeat and learn. If a mistake is made, it can be easily undone. To hear the word again, just tap the little bee icon at the top left of the screen. Students must spell each word correctly to move to the next one and complete the level. They can retry any level at any time, but must complete earlier levels before advancing.
Learning Mode 2 challenges students with jumbled letters. They must rearrange the letters to spell the word correctly. Like in Mode 1, mistakes can be undone, and the word can be replayed by tapping the bee icon. Correct spelling of each word is required to progress and complete the level.
Competition Mode adds an exciting twist with jumbled letters and extra letters thrown in. Students are timed as they spell 10 randomly selected words from the level's pool. The goal is to complete each level as quickly as possible, with times tracked on the leaderboard.
Students can reset the game anytime from the Settings page. It's important to wait for a letter to finish being called before selecting the next one. Both students and parents can capture the leaderboard screen to share with teachers.
