MAME4droid: An Android Arcade Emulator

MAME4droid, developed by D. Valdeita, brings the classic arcade experience to Android devices. This port of MAME 0.37b5, based on GP2X and WIZ MAME4ALL 2.5, emulates over 2000 ROMs from the original MAME version and some additions from later releases. Performance varies depending on the game and device; older devices may experience limitations.

Extensive Game Library: Emulates a vast collection of arcade games.
Android Compatibility: Supports Android 2.1 and higher, including Honeycomb tablets.
Hardware Acceleration: Utilizes 2D hardware acceleration on Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and later.
Customization Options: Offers adjustable CPU and audio clock speeds, various scaling and rotation options, customizable button layouts, and selectable digital or analog touch controls.
Controller Support: Compatible with iON's iCade and iCP controllers, as well as Wiimote controllers (using a third-party app).
Visual Enhancements: Includes overlay filters and scaling options for improved visuals.

Performance Tips:

For optimal performance, especially on older devices, consider:

Reducing sound quality or disabling sound altogether.
Using 8-bit depth.
Underclocking the CPU and sound CPUs.
Disabling stick and button animations and smooth scaling.

ROM Placement:

After installation, place your MAME-titled zipped ROMs in the /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/roms folder. Note that MAME4droid uses only MAME4droid & iMAME4all ROM sets ('0.37b5', 'GP2X, WIZ 0.37b11'). Use the included "clrmame.dat" file and ClrMAME Pro (available at http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/) to convert ROMs from other MAME versions.

Limitations:

Save states are not supported due to the underlying MAME version.
