It Seems Like The Last of Us 3 Won’t Happen

In recent years, anticipation for a The Last of Us sequel has been palpable online. Despite mixed reactions to the second game, many hoped Naughty Dog would address criticisms in a potential Part III or explore the universe through a spin-off. However, Neil Druckmann's recent comments surprised even the most dedicated fans.

During a joint interview with screenwriter Craig Mazin, discussing both the HBO adaptation and the games themselves, Druckmann revealed his struggles following the sequel's COVID-19 era release. He described feeling unwell, overwhelmed, and particularly vulnerable to online negativity. The constant exposure to reviews and online discussions fueled self-doubt, leading him to question the quality of his work.

When asked about a third installment, Druckmann sighed, acknowledging the inevitable question. However, he indicated that fans shouldn't expect another The Last of Us game, suggesting the franchise might be concluding.
