The cards revealed today are part of the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet, included in the larger main set. These cards are reprints of existing Magic: The Gathering cards, beautifully reimagined with iconic Final Fantasy concept art and characters from various games in the series. While they don't introduce new mechanics or unique cards like those found in the recently unveiled Commander decks, the art spans from the very first Final Fantasy game to more recent entries.

Unlike the cards in the main set, Through the Ages cards won't be legal in Magic's Standard format unless the original card was already legal. However, they serve as captivating alternate art versions, adding a new layer of excitement to your collection. These cards can be found in both the premium Collector Boosters and one in every three regular Play Boosters, which are perfect for Limited events like Draft and Sealed.

If you're planning to dive deep into this set, whether at your local game store or digitally on platforms like Magic: The Gathering Arena, you'll encounter these cards frequently. Five of the six cards are Rares, making them somewhat scarce, but Thrum of the Vestige, an Uncommon, is a reskin of the iconic Lightning Bolt and is likely to make a significant impact on gameplay.

The Warrior of Light's depiction of Jodah, the Unifier, is sure to be a fan favorite. Jodah is a powerful and popular Commander, and the art used here is Yoshitaka Amano's iconic design from the original Final Fantasy's Japanese box art. Similarly, Amano's art for Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey has been repurposed for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's strongest partner commanders, which has only been reprinted once before.

These cards will be available physically as part of the larger Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions going live on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy enthusiast not yet into Magic, there's still plenty to be excited about. Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the FF7 Remake series, hinted at a special design for Sephiroth's card, adding an element of mystery to the set.
