Best Agamotto Decks in Marvel Snap

Journey back in time with Marvel Snap's Prehistoric Avengers season! The Season Pass introduces Agamotto, a powerful ancient sorcerer, and this guide explores the best decks to utilize his unique abilities.

How Agamotto Works in Marvel Snap

Agamotto is a 5-cost, 10-power card with the ability: "Game Start: Shuffle 4 Ancient Arcana into your deck." These Arcana are:

  • Temporal Manipulation (1-cost): On Reveal: Give Agamotto +3 Power. Put him into your hand if he’s not in play. (Banish this.)
  • Wombs of Watoomb (2-cost): On Reveal: Afflict an enemy card here with -5 Power and move it right. (Banish this.)
  • Bolts of Balthakk (3-cost): On Reveal: Next turn, you get +4 Energy. (Banish this.)
  • Images of Ikonn (4-cost): On Reveal: Transform your other cards here into copies of the highest-Power one. (Banish this.)

Notice the "Banish" keyword. Ancient Arcana are Skill cards, not character cards, lacking power cost. They're played, then banished, never entering the discard pile. This means they can't be retrieved. They combo with Wong but not Odin; King Etri won't pull Agamotto, and Ravonna Renslayer or Mister Negative won't affect them.

Agamotto's diverse Arcana make him adaptable but difficult to categorize into a single archetype.

Best Early Agamotto Decks in Marvel Snap

While Agamotto's definitive archetype may take time to develop, he excels in two existing deck types: Wiccan Control and Push Scream.

Wiccan Control

This deck (Quicksilver, Hydra Bob, Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, Iron Patriot, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Cassandra Nova, Rocket & Groot, Copycat, Galacta, Wiccan, Agamotto, Alioth) is expensive, featuring many Series 5 cards. However, many cards can be substituted with similar-cost alternatives. Bolts of Balthakk provides late-game energy even if Wiccan isn't drawn early. Temporal Manipulation ensures early Agamotto access; Wombs of Watoomb disrupts opponents; Images of Ikonn creates powerful copies, particularly of Cassandra Nova or Galacta. Eson, released alongside Agamotto, complements this deck. [Untapped list link here]

Push Scream

This deck (Hydra Bob, Scream, Iron Patriot, Kraven, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Spider-Man, Rocket & Groot, Miles Morales, Stegron, Cannonball, Agamotto) is also expensive (Series 5 cards: Hydra Bob, Scream, Iron Patriot, Sam Wilson, Rocket & Groot, Cannonball). Substitutions include Nightcrawler for Hydra Bob and Jeff for Iron Patriot. Wombs of Watoomb synergizes well; Temporal Manipulation makes Agamotto a strong turn 6 play; Images of Ikonn creates multiple Screams, Spider-Men, or Cannonballs. Agamotto adds unpredictability and counters Luke Cage/Shadow King decks. [Untapped list link here]

Should You Buy the Prehistoric Avengers Season Pass?

Agamotto, if un-nerfed, rivals Thanos or Arishem in power. His potential to disrupt the meta and create new strategies justifies the $9.99 USD cost, especially considering his future archetype potential.
