Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series

As if fans could resist the return of Alicia Silverstone donning the iconic yellow and plaid once more. The beloved actress is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in an eagerly anticipated Clueless sequel series, slated for release on Peacock.

According to Variety, the series is in the development phase with Peacock, and while plot details are closely guarded, it's confirmed that the show will continue the narrative from the beloved 1995 film. This project stands apart from a previously announced Clueless spin-off that Peacock had planned back in 2020.

The creative minds behind this new venture include Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, renowned for their work on the original Gossip Girl series and its reboot, who will pen the series alongside Jordan Weiss. The trio will also executive produce the show, joined by Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are also on board as producers.

This isn't the first time Clueless has made the leap to television. Following the film's success, a TV adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.

Silverstone's recent return to her Clueless character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten hints at her enthusiasm for revisiting Cher's world. It's clear she's ready to dive back into Cher's fabulous wardrobe, and fans are undoubtedly thrilled to see her do so.
