Amazon's God of War Series Greenlit for Season 2 Pre-Release

Amazon's highly anticipated God of War TV series, based on the acclaimed 2018 video game, is already making waves even before its premiere. Showrunner Ronald D. Moore, who took over from previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, has confirmed that the series is set for not one, but two seasons. In a recent interview with Katee Sackhoff, another alum from the beloved series Battlestar Galactica, Moore shared insights into his new project.

"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore explained. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, working on that. That's my new thing."

Interestingly, Moore admits he's not a seasoned gamer, having only dabbled with classics like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern game controllers: "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead," he said. Despite this, Moore's role in the God of War series is comprehensive, serving as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, leveraging his experience from iconic shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Battlestar Galactica.

While some members of the original team have departed, Sony's Cory Barlog remains on board as an executive producer. Although details about the series are scarce, it's confirmed that the storyline will draw from the 2018 God of War game.

Amazon's track record with video game adaptations looks promising, with successful renewals for shows like the Fallout TV series and Secret Level following their strong debuts. This trend suggests a bright future for the God of War series on the streaming platform.
