Modders are actively crafting an ambitious expansion that will introduce Mexico to Red Dead Redemption 2.

Nuevo Paraíso — The Forgotten Frontier is a major expansion for Red Dead Redemption 2, described as a "complete recreation and enhancement of the Mexican territory from Red Dead Redemption." An official trailer offering a sneak peek at the ongoing development, shared on X / Twitter by @videotechuk_, has already surpassed 50,000 views on YouTube.

A team of modders is delivering a fan-made expansion DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2, bringing Nuevo Paraiso (also known as Mexico) to life with enhanced army patrols, new missions, diverse wildlife, and fully remastered regions.

"Reimagined from the ground up with exceptional detail while honoring the visual style of both games," the modders explain, adding that Nuevo Paraíso "thoughtfully" rebuilds every town, settlement, and camp to "reflect the spirit of Mexico, featuring region-specific vegetation, well-maintained roads and trails, fresh locations, and immersive environments brought to life through the natural behaviors of its inhabitants as they live out their daily routines."

"The military patrols the borders, and in certain areas, hidden truths and old relics still linger," the description hints. "Uncover new secrets, side quests, and distinctive locations that expand the world without straying from its original soul. Every element has been carefully crafted to match the atmosphere, lighting, and tone of Red Dead Redemption 2, delivering a seamless and authentic experience that remains faithful to the original canon."

Nuevo Paraíso — The Forgotten Frontier is currently available in early access via Nexus Mods. Though still a work in progress, the creators assure players that new regions await exploration, updated mechanics are being implemented, and the entire world has been rebuilt to allow them to "return to Mexico and rediscover what it was like in 1907."

A final release date has not yet been announced, but the team encouraged fans to "stay tuned for more updates as you gear up for this major expansion, widely seen as a full-fledged DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2."

In light of the recent news that GTA 6 has been delayed once more, Rockstar confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 has now become the fourth best-selling game of all time. According to Take-Two’s investor call last week (November 6), the title has sold over 79 million copies — making it the "top-selling game of the past seven years in the U.S. by revenue" — and pushing the entire series’ total sales to 106 million. Despite this success, no announcement has been made about a next-gen update.

Today, Red Dead Redemption 2 is universally praised as one of the greatest video games ever made. We considered it a masterpiece as well, with IGN's review awarding it a perfect 10/10. "Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game of exceptional quality; a finely tuned open-world tribute to the outlaw era," we wrote at launch.
