Assassin's Creed Shadows: Full Completion Estimated at 80 Hours

Author:Kristen Update:May 29,2025

Creative director Jonathan Dumont recently disclosed that completing the main storyline of Assassin's Creed Shadows is expected to take around 30 to 40 hours, while diving into all the additional content could extend that time by another 30 to 40 hours, bringing the total playtime to approximately 80 hours. This estimate was shared during an interview with journalist Genki, offering players a clearer idea of the time investment required.

Although Dumont previously compared Shadows to earlier titles like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, he noted that these games differ significantly in length, making the comparison less meaningful. Acknowledging the challenge of measuring open-world experiences, he clarified that Shadows aligns more closely in scale with Origins. According to data from How Long To Beat, Origins typically takes around 30 hours for the main campaign and over 80 hours for perfectionists aiming to complete every side quest.

For gamers wary of overly lengthy campaigns, Shadows seems to strike a more balanced approach. In comparison, Valhalla has faced criticism for its demanding 60-hour main story and the staggering 150-hour potential when factoring in all content. If Dumont's predictions hold true, Shadows promises a satisfying yet manageable experience.

Be sure to mark your calendars—Assassin's Creed Shadows launches on March 20th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
