To unlock animals for your Hideout, you'll need to interact with different breeds of cats and dogs. Each time Naoe or Yasuke pets a new breed, it becomes available for the Hideout. You can encounter various dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens, including the special stray from the pre-order DLC quest "Thrown to the Dogs."

Yasuke can also unlock smaller animals by painting them. This includes rabbits, fox kits, tanukis, and monkeys that you may come across in the wild. By documenting these animals, you can add them to your Hideout as well.
