Balatro hit a huge sales milestone

Last year saw many excellent game releases, but one indie title truly shone: the roguelike Balatro. Developed by a single person, Balatro not only garnered critical praise but also achieved phenomenal commercial success, surpassing 5 million copies sold!

Just over a month ago, developer LocalThunk celebrated reaching 3.5 million sales. This means an astonishing 1.5 million additional copies were sold in approximately 40 days, likely boosted by the impact of The Game Awards, as hinted at by the developer on Twitter.

Harvey Elliott, CEO of publisher Playstack, lauded this milestone as an incredible achievement, expressing immense pride in both LocalThunk and Playstack's team.

Almost a year after its release, Balatro continues to flourish. This card-based roguelike receives regular updates, including exciting collaborations, and recently set a new record for peak concurrent players on Steam.
