BG3 Patch 8 Is So Big, It Needs To Be Stress Tested

Larian Studios conducts a stress test for Patch 8, a significant update for Baldur's Gate 3, before its official release. This pre-release test allows for identifying and resolving potential issues. The stress test update includes bug fixes and improvements.

The Patch 8 stress test update addresses various bugs, crashes, and scripting errors. It also ensures correct functionality for Gale's magical item consumption. Access is restricted to participants in the stress test; the general public must wait for the official release to experience these improvements.

Key fixes and enhancements include preserving container contents upon destruction, improved Steam Deck Photo Mode functionality, enhanced pose responsiveness, refined cross-play capabilities, updated Booming Blade tooltip values, and several crash fixes. For a complete changelog, refer to the official Baldur's Gate 3 website.

Patch 8 is anticipated to be a substantial update, including cross-play functionality, over twelve new subclasses (such as Death Domain Cleric, Path of Giants Barbarian, and Arcane Archer Fighter), and the highly requested Photo Mode. This explains the need for thorough stress testing before its wider release.

Highly Customizable Photo Mode

A preview video demonstrates the extensive customization options within the new Photo Mode. Larian aims to empower players to maximize Photo Mode's potential from the outset.

Photo Mode is accessible during exploration, combat, and even in multiplayer (for the host). Players can pose companions and characters, include or exclude party members, and even add extra elements to the scene. A free-moving camera provides versatile angles.

Post-processing effects, stickers, and frames add further creative control. Note that during dialogues and cutscenes, only post-processing effects are available.

This preview is just the beginning; Larian plans to release additional tutorials to further unlock the creative possibilities of Photo Mode.
