Author:Kristen Update:May 22,2025

Breath of Fire IV has made a triumphant return to PC, 25 years after its initial release. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, followed by Europe in 2001, the game saw a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003. This beloved role-playing game from Capcom follows the journey of Ryu, a man with the unique ability to transform into a dragon. Alongside a group of warriors, Ryu embarks on a mission to stop an emperor bent on world destruction.

Thanks to GOG's ongoing Preservation Program, Breath of Fire IV has been meticulously updated for modern PCs and is now available DRM-free on their platform. The enhanced version is optimized for Windows 10 and 11, offering both English and Japanese localizations. Players can enjoy improved graphics courtesy of an upgraded DirectX renderer, along with new display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and enhanced gamma correction for superior visuals. The audio has also been overhauled, with restored environmental sounds and new configuration options for an immersive experience.
