Firaxis Games has unveiled a virtual reality adaptation of the recently launched Civilization VII.

Sid Meier's Civilization VII - VR marks the franchise's first venture into VR, launching exclusively on Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets in Spring 2025.

Developed by PlaySide Studios (known for VR titles like The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and Meta Horizon Worlds), this VR version offers a unique experience.

Civilization VII - VR brings the world of Civilization to life in unprecedented ways. The game world unfolds on a Command Table, allowing players to zoom in for intricate details or view the expansive map from a commanding height. Interact directly with iconic world leaders, forging alliances or declaring war, witnessing their reactions in real-time.

Play in immersive VR or mixed reality, seamlessly switching between modes. VR transports you to a personalized museum overlooking your leader's domain; mixed reality adapts the Command Table to your physical space. Detailed dioramas showcasing your accomplishments are viewable in The Archives, accessible in both VR and mixed reality. Engage in online multiplayer matches with up to three other players on Meta Quest 3 and 3S.

The PC and console versions of Civilization VII, currently available through early access, have received mixed reception from players. Steam reviews highlight concerns regarding the user interface, limited map variety, and missing features.
