How to Unlock Caldarus Events Gift Preferences ### How to Unlock Caldarus as a Romanceable Character in Fields of Mistria

To begin your romantic journey with Caldarus in Fields of Mistria, you must first break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. To do this, you'll need to offer four specific items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot. Upon completing the offering, a dramatic cutscene will play where the Mines Priestess warns the farmer to leave or face being sealed. As your health dwindles, Caldarus heroically appears, transforming into his human form and granting you the Dragon’s Breath spell before retreating to the Deep Woods.

Once Caldarus assumes his human form, you can interact with him daily, offering gifts and engaging in conversation just as you would with other dateable NPCs in Mistria. To find Caldarus, head to his temple in the Deep Woods, which you can permanently unlock on your map using the Dragon’s Breath spell.

Caldarus’ Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

With the March 2025 update, Caldarus starts with a heart level of six, which is the current cap. Unfortunately, there are no additional heart events for Caldarus at this time, but future updates may introduce more. Currently, there are only two notable cutscenes involving him. The first is a dream sequence at the game's start, introducing Mistria's magic system and gameplay mechanics. The second occurs after breaking the Fire Seal, where Caldarus saves you from being sealed and reveals his human form before retreating to recover.

Following the update, you can also initiate a date with Caldarus during the Shooting Star Festival, which takes place on Summer 28 in-game.

The Shooting Star Festival marks the end of summer in Fields of Mistria, providing a romantic setting at the Summit where you can watch the stars with any romanceable NPC with four or more hearts. Since Caldarus begins at six hearts, you're eligible to attend with him. To set up the date, gift him the Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28 and meet him afterward to confirm your attendance. During the festival, Caldarus will thank you for the invitation and share insights into the Mistrian tradition of Starbinding. The dialogue delves into deep themes of soul connections and the nature of relationships, hinting at a rich backstory. As the night progresses, Caldarus suggests spending the rest of the evening watching the stars from his temple.
