How to Complete In Vino Veritas in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Side quests in games can be a delightful diversion, but some, like "In Vino Veritas" in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, can feel more like a puzzle within a puzzle. This quest involves multiple steps and even a nested side quest, making it both intriguing and occasionally frustrating. Let's break down how to navigate this quest effectively.

Speak with Casper and Havel

To kick off "In Vino Veritas," you'll meet Casper Rudolf at his drink cart on the east side of Kuttenberg City. Simply enter through the east gate and walk straight ahead to find him. Casper is curious about the secret behind the monks' superior wine, but unraveling this mystery requires a few preliminary steps. Make sure to exhaust all dialogue options with Casper to learn about Havel and a crucial book he left with Adleta, which will guide your initial approach.

If you decide to retrieve the book from Adleta, head to the southeast corner of Kuttenberg's inner wall in the morning or afternoon. You'll find an open garden where Adleta spends her time. Before approaching, collect five Marigolds. Try to speak with Adleta before her brother Hugo arrives, or if Hugo is already there, secure his permission to talk to her. Keep your conversation with Adleta kind and mention that you need the book for Casper. You can attempt a skill check to persuade her or offer the Marigolds as a gift to receive the book. Once you have it, read the book from your inventory.

Alternatively, you can bypass the book and head directly to Havel at his inn in Kuttenberg City. Ensure your Charisma is at least 18 by choosing the right outfit and brushing up on your drinking skills. When you talk to Havel, select these dialogue options:

• That’s a very fine gift.
• Steinberger.
• It’s missing ginger.

These choices will impress Havel, who will then reveal the monastery's secret ingredient. Return to Casper with this information.

Find the Monastery’s Secret Ingredient

Next, make your way to the vineyard north of Kuttenberg and speak with the recruiter to initiate the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest. While completing this quest isn't mandatory, starting it allows you to explore the vineyard without being labeled a trespasser. Inside, find Jerome sitting on a bench near the main building.

Sneak into the main building, take a left, and enter the storeroom. Use your lockpicking skills to open the chests and retrieve the Sulphur Wicks, which Casper needs. For additional Groschen, visit the garden behind the main building and pick five seedlings before you leave.

If you choose to complete "Under the Straw Hat," participate in tasks such as removing plants around the vines and moving sacks. After completing enough work, report back to Jerome to finish the side quest and earn some Groschen. Otherwise, return to Casper with the Sulphur Wicks and any seedlings you've collected.
