Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.3 Release Date Set, Switch 2 Owners Await

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 07,2026

CD Projekt Red has officially announced that Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.3 will launch on July 17 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, but it won't be available for the Nintendo Switch 2 right away.

During a livestream, developers explained that the studio requires additional time to finalize patch 2.3 for the Switch 2 edition. While no specific release date was given, they confirmed it will arrive shortly after the initial rollout.

Associate Game Director Paweł Sasko highlighted that this update centers on vehicles and customization. Lead Designer Adrien Jouannet from support studio Virtuos detailed the addition of three new cars and one new motorcycle—marking the game's first customizable bike. Each vehicle is unlocked by completing a brief quest, which Sasko described as intuitive to activate. Note that these new quests do not count toward 100% completion for achievement hunters.

Update 2.3 also introduces the new AutoDrive feature, enabling hands-free driving. In the game's universe, AutoDrive is rolled out via a software update to all vehicles. Set a destination marker, and your car will navigate there autonomously, adhering to traffic rules and stopping at red lights—though it only functions on roads.

If you come under attack, AutoDrive disengages automatically so you can handle combat. Sasko mentioned that CD Projekt has optimized the feature to minimize accidental encounters, meaning you'll likely need to deliberately enter combat zones to trigger fights.

Another addition is a wandering mode, where your vehicle drives endlessly in free roam—ideal for explorers. You can even hire Delamain AI taxis for AutoDrive, allowing the AI to chauffeur you around Night City at your leisure.

Combine this with the cinematic camera available while driving, and you can experience Night City in a more immersive, film-like manner. Sasko shared that this feature was inspired by fan videos showcasing long drives through the city. Photo Mode is also accessible during AutoDrive.

Speaking of Photo Mode, version 2.3 brings numerous enhancements. You can now adjust the time of day and weather for your shots. There are 27 new NPC models, plus fresh outfits and natural poses for main characters. CD Projekt also hinted at an upcoming Photo Mode contest for the community.

On the technical front, PC players will gain support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.1 (FSR 3.1) starting with update 2.3. Sasko confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will eventually support FSR 4, but it will align with a future AMD driver release. HDR10+ gaming is now fully supported, and VRR is coming to console versions as well.

Lastly, CD Projekt discussed the previously announced Mac version of Cyberpunk 2077, which launches simultaneously with update 2.3 on July 17.

Is this the final update for Cyberpunk 2077? While CD Projekt has indicated that recent patches concluded support for the nearly five-year-old game, the possibility of more content remains. During the stream, Sasko remained non-committal. Could Cyberpunk 2077 celebrate its fifth anniversary this December with one last major update?
