For years, fans of the gritty 2007 video game Kane & Lynch, developed by the renowned Hitman studio IO Interactive, have been eagerly awaiting a big screen adaptation. The project has seen a revolving door of Hollywood talent attached to it at various stages, yet it remains unrealized.

In a recent social media post, Nobody 2 director Timo Tjahjanto shared intriguing details about his involvement with the film. He revealed that he had penned a treatment for the Kane & Lynch movie, envisioning Stranger Things' David Harbour—known for his roles as Jim Hopper and Red Guardian, Florence Pugh's dad in Thunderbolts/New Avengers—in a starring role alongside James Badge Dale. "Never seen a script, but couple years ago when that property was still kinda shit hot. I wrote a short treatment with James Badge Dale and David Harbour in mind," Tjahjanto wrote. "Never gotten anywhere."

Tjahjanto's treatment, a preliminary document used to pitch a film concept to studios, is just one of many unfulfilled ideas for the Kane & Lynch movie. The project has seen significant interest from major stars over the years. At one point, Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx were attached to the film, but they eventually withdrew as the script underwent numerous revisions. Later, another iteration of the project was rumored to feature Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel in the lead roles, though this too never came to fruition.

Following the release of the less well-received sequel, Kane & Lynch: Dog Days in 2010, IO Interactive shifted their focus entirely to their successful Hitman franchise, effectively putting the Kane & Lynch series on the back burner.
