Days Gone Remastered PS5 Upgrade Unavailable for PS Plus Redemptions

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 21,2025

Sony's recent State of Play showcase highlighted Days Gone Remastered, but its $10 upgrade policy has sparked controversy among PlayStation Plus subscribers. Sony's confirmation that the discounted upgrade is only available to those who purchased the PlayStation 4 disc or digital version, excluding PS Plus users, has led to widespread online complaints.

Those who acquired Days Gone through PS Plus (either via the now-defunct PS Plus Collection or the April 2021 Essential monthly games offering) must pay the full $49.99 for the PS5 remaster. This has prompted many PS Plus subscribers to express their disappointment online, stating they would have gladly paid the $10 upgrade fee but will now forgo the game entirely. Several Reddit comments highlight this sentiment, with users suggesting Sony missed out on substantial revenue by excluding PS Plus owners from the discounted upgrade. The argument is that even a small percentage of PS Plus subscribers might have been willing to pay $10 to try the remastered version.

While some PS Plus subscribers understand Sony's likely cost-benefit analysis behind this decision, others criticize the company's perceived stinginess, particularly given that the game was previously offered for free. The perception is that Sony is foregoing potential sales by excluding a significant portion of its player base from the discounted upgrade option.
