Deckbuilding Roguelike with Finnish Folklore Dice of Kalma Lands on Android

Pepperbox Studios has released their deckbuilding roguelike, Dice of Kalma. The game is currently available on mobile for both Android and iOS, as well as on PC via Steam. It allows you to battle Kalma, the Finnish god of death, directly!

Dice of Kalma is Pepperbox’s debut mobile title

The game immerses you in a tense standoff with Kalma, the grim guardian of the Underworld. Your sole path to victory lies in strategic dice management and a deck packed with skulls.

Each run gives you the chance to roll, reroll, and maximize every point possible. Kalma responds with escalating challenges, so even when you believe you’ve mastered the game, he often raises the stakes on the next turn.

Dice of Kalma provides a vast array of tools. With over 200 skulls, you can construct decks in various ways, such as using ones that salvage a poor roll or those that reward bold, reckless choices.

You can experiment with synergies, comparing skull effects and identifying which combinations turn even the worst dice rolls into winning hands. Speaking of which, take a look at the game below.

Every hand you play must activate as many skulls as possible. Meanwhile, upgrading your hands is key to surviving each new layer of the Underworld.

The dice phase acts as its own mini-puzzle

You choose to reroll unwanted dice or pace your rerolls to avoid depleting resources too quickly. Alternatively, you can go all-in when pursuing an ideal outcome. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes Kalma blocks it, and you must start over from scratch.
