Author:Kristen Update:Apr 27,2025

If you're a fan of *League of Legends*, you'll be excited to know that a new minigame, Demon’s Hand, has been introduced in the client and will be available until the end of April. If you've played *Balatro*, you'll find the gameplay mechanics familiar as you dive into this intriguing card game within *League of Legends*.

League of Legends Demon’s Hand Set-Up and Getting Started

To start playing Demon’s Hand, ensure your *League* client is updated to the latest version. Once updated, click the Play button, navigate to the game type menu, and select Demon’s Hand. This will kick off an introduction to the story behind the game mode and lead you into your first round of the card game.

Your hand is displayed at the bottom of the screen, with your health, coins, and critical hit chance shown in the bottom right corner. Above that, you'll see your Sigil box, which can hold up to six Sigils at once, though you start with none. Remember, your health doesn't automatically restore after battles; instead, visit tent locations on the map to recover a percentage of your health.

The enemy card is positioned at the top of the screen, with its health in the bottom right and damage in the bottom left. An attack coin to the left of the enemy card indicates how many hands you can play before the enemy attacks. On the left edge of the screen, a book lists all possible attack hands and their base damage for a standard round.

To deal damage in Demon’s Hand, you'll play poker hands, each with a unique name in the game but similar to traditional poker hands. The highest hand you can achieve is The Demon’s Hand, equivalent to a royal flush. Here's a breakdown of the hands and their corresponding poker terminology:

  • Solo = High Card (10 Base Damage)
  • Dyad = Pair (20 Base Damage)
  • Dyad Set = Two Pair (40 Base Damage)
  • Triad = Three of a Kind (80 Base Damage)
  • Tetrad = Four of a Kind (100 Base Damage)
  • March = Straight (125 Base Damage)
  • Horde = Flush (175 Base Damage)
  • Grand Warhost = Full House (400 Base Damage)
  • Marching Horde = Straight Flush (600 Base Damage)
  • The Demon’s Hand = Royal Flush (2000 Base Damage)

The base damage of each hand is supplemented by the numerical value of the cards played. However, if the enemy has a special ability that nullifies a specific suit, cards of that suit will be crossed out, and their numerical value won't contribute to the total damage.

Spice Up Your Attacks with Sigils

Sigils add another layer of strategy to Demon’s Hand. You can purchase Sigils during store phases, which are indicated by coins on the map. You earn coins by defeating enemies and can spend them to buy Sigils, each with unique abilities. Hover over them in the store or during a round to see what they do. Some Sigils enhance specific hands, like boosting the damage of Dyads, while others might give you extra turns before the enemy attacks or reduce incoming damage.

That's a comprehensive guide on how to play the Demon’s Hand card game in *League of Legends*. If this minigame isn't your cup of tea, keep an eye out for the upcoming April Fools skins to add some fun to your Summoner’s Rift experience.
