Denpa Men RPG Returns to Mobile

The New Denpa Men is returning to mobile devices! This quirky creature-collecting RPG, a 3DS favorite that later graced the Nintendo Switch, is set for a mobile comeback on March 10th for iOS and Android. Could this mark a global release?

Given Nintendo's recent mobile expansion, a Switch-to-smartphone port was inevitable. However, few expected it to be the wonderfully weird The New Denpa Men! Gematsu reports the iOS and Android launch date of March 10th. The original game pioneered AR use via the 3DS camera, a feature reportedly returning in this new version.

For the uninitiated, The Denpa Men is an early 3DS title. This AR-based RPG lets you collect the titular Denpa Men (creatures dwelling on radio waves) from the real world and battle them in dungeons.

While not a household name like Mario or Zelda, The Denpa Men franchise has a history on Nintendo platforms. Developer Genius Sonority previously released the original New Denpa Men on mobile before its Switch remaster. This new release, therefore, is a mobile rerelease of a Switch remaster of a mobile game—a bit meta, isn't it?

Intriguingly, the original New Denpa Men was Japan-only. The Switch version went global, suggesting a worldwide release for this mobile iteration is possible.
