Destiny 2 enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to in the Year of Prophecy, as the game unveils an exciting roadmap featuring a Star Wars-inspired expansion pass. Dive in to discover what's on the horizon and the benefits of different editions.
Destiny 2, the beloved free-to-play multiplayer shooter, is gearing up for another year of thrilling content. During the Edge of Fate reveal livestream on May 7, developer Bungie shared the Year of Prophecy roadmap, outlining the exciting events planned for the coming months.
This year's roadmap introduces a fresh approach to annual updates. According to Bungie, "Starting with the Year of Prophecy, each year will now include four major content beats: two paid expansions and two major updates accessible to all players."
These updates will feature new events, Exotic Missions, gear, rewards, and more. Importantly, seasonal activities will not require a paid pass, ensuring that all players can enjoy Destiny 2's major updates.
Kicking off the Year of Prophecy, Destiny 2's first expansion, The Edge of Fate, is set to launch on July 15. Players will explore the new location, Kepler, and harness unique abilities with the help of new allies.
This expansion also introduces the Portal, "a new activity selection screen that offers instant access to a range of activities tailored to different playstyles, making it easier than ever for players to find their next adventure."
Additionally, The Edge of Fate will bring updates to the game's armor and tiering systems, introduce new set bonuses, and revamp character stats. More details on these changes will be released in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
Later this year, Bungie will release the second expansion, Renegades, on December 2, marking a thrilling collaboration with the iconic Star Wars franchise.
Renegades blends Destiny's innovative storytelling and gameplay with Star Wars' iconic elements and themes, creating a sci-fi chapter that captures the essence of both universes. This expansion will be integral to the Fate Saga, introducing new characters, mechanics, and more.
