Devolver Digital Challenges GTA 6 Launch Day

Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch on May 26, 2026, and indie game publisher Devolver Digital is already preparing to launch its own new title on the very same day.

The company playfully engaged with what is certain to be the biggest game release of 2026 by sharing its own launch date announcement on X/Twitter. With GTA 6 now officially dated, Devolver Digital has committed to releasing a mysterious new game on May 26 as well—a bold marketing approach the company appears dedicated to, at least for the moment.

This release date comes after Devolver previously vowed to launch its own game as soon as Rockstar confirmed the highly anticipated GTA 6 launch. Now that May 26 of next year is officially set, Devolver Digital’s message is clear: “You can’t escape us.”

Devolver Digital is known for a wide range of smaller-scale hits, including Hotline Miami, Enter the Gungeon, The Messenger, Katana Zero, Cult of the Lamb, and more. It’s not yet clear whether the mystery game will be a sequel to an existing franchise or a completely new IP. Among the upcoming titles in its lineup are Baby Steps and Stick It to the Stickman, both scheduled for release before the end of 2025. Enter the Gungeon 2 and Human Fall Flat 2 are also planned for 2026, though developer No Brakes Games has confirmed that the latter will not hit stores on May 26.

Even with over a year until its launch, GTA 6 is already shaping up to be a monumental release.
