Divinity Original Sin 2: Where To Find Blackroot

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 28,2025

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Blackroot Location Guide

In Divinity: Original Sin 2, Blackroot is a crucial herb, especially for the Miester's Ritual in Act IV. This ritual, guided by Miester Siva, requires a ritual bowl, bloody obsidian lancet, and Blackroot to unlock the Hall of Echoes and obtain Night Vision. While initial ingredients are found in Siva's basement, subsequent rituals require you to locate them yourself. This guide focuses on finding Blackroot.

Locating Blackroot in Cloisterwood

Cloisterwood, a dense forest northwest of Driftwood on Reaper's Coast, is where you'll find Blackroot. Enter the forest and use the ALT key to highlight interactive objects. Blackroot grows at the base of certain trees. Gather several, even though only one is immediately needed for the ritual. The number of times the ritual is performed depends on your gameplay.

Exploring Cloisterwood: More Than Just Blackroot

Cloisterwood offers more than just Blackroot. Explore to discover:

  • Source Point Opportunities: Interact with Hannag and Jahan (the latter also relevant to Lohse's storyline) for potential Source points.
  • Undead Trader: Find Eithne, an undead trader, in the ruins. Choose the "Divine Order" option for a side quest.
  • Dead Ferryman: Located at the northern pier, he offers passage to Bloodmoon Island.
  • Other Secrets: Discover the Wrecker's Cave and potentially a unique loremaster amulet by interacting with a ship captain's spirit.

Important Note: If it's your first visit, thorough exploration is recommended. Consider avoiding the powerful witch, Alice Alisceon, until you reach at least level 15.
