EA Sports FC 25 Gameplay Overhauled

Electronic Arts' soccer simulators have long been a subject of critique, not only for their monetization strategies but also for their technical shortcomings. The dissatisfaction with EA Sports FC 25 has escalated to the point where the developers have taken action with a "Gameplay Refresh Update." This update encompasses over 50 modifications to the game's mechanics, including:

  • Significant alterations to fundamental gameplay systems such as assists, shots, goalkeeper play, and defense mechanics.
  • Resolution of frequent issues where defenders were unrealistically catching up with ball carriers.
  • Enhanced smoothness in attacking play, making ball movement easier and more fluid.
  • Decreased occurrence of reverse tackles and AI interceptions.
  • Notable reduction in the effectiveness of crossing passes.
  • Quicker player support when positioned in familiar roles.
  • Better offside detection for AI-controlled offensive runs.
  • Slight improvement in the accuracy of normal and aimed shots from outside the penalty area under simple conditions.

Upon the release of EA FC 25, only 36% of the 474 player reviews were positive, indicating widespread dissatisfaction. The community has been vocal about their frustrations with Electronic Arts' perceived greed, alongside numerous bugs, crashes, and issues with PlayStation controller recognition.

Furthermore, the game's anti-cheat system renders it incompatible with the Steam Deck, adding to the list of grievances from the player base.
