Elden Ring Live-Action Film Adaptation Coming Soon

Elden Ring's journey to the silver screen is officially underway, announced by Bandai Namco Entertainment and A24. This exciting project is spearheaded by Alex Garland, the acclaimed mind behind Ex Machina, Civil War, and Warfare. Garland aims to capture the game's epic world and intense action in a live-action format. The film will be produced by a powerhouse team including Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, and Allon Reich from DNA Films, along with George R. R. Martin, the creator of A Song of Ice and Fire, and Vince Gerardis, a co-executive producer of Game of Thrones. While it's uncertain if FromSoftware president and Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki will contribute to the film, fans are eagerly awaiting further updates on the plot and casting.

Elden Ring Coming Off Strong This 2025

As the live-action adaptation takes shape, the Elden Ring video game series continues to thrive. Launched in 2022, the original Elden Ring quickly became a global phenomenon, selling over 13.4 million copies in just five weeks. By April 2025, the game had reached an impressive 30 million copies sold worldwide, a testament to its enduring popularity. Elden Ring has also garnered over 324 Game of the Year awards, making it one of the most decorated titles in gaming history. The 2024 DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, further solidified its reputation.

FromSoftware isn't slowing down in 2025, with two new releases on the horizon. Elden Ring Nightreign, a co-op action game set in the realm of Limveld, invites players to become Nightfarers tasked with thwarting the rise of the Nightlord. This spinoff retains the essence of the original game but introduces a fresh multiplayer experience. Nightreign is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on May 30th.

Additionally, the Elden Ring Tarnished Edition is set to launch on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This complete edition will include the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, four new armor sets, and a customization feature for Torrent the Spectral Steed. While not a launch title for the new console, fans can look forward to enjoying Elden Ring on the Switch 2 later this year.
