Elden Ring Nightreign Ditches Poisonous Swamps

Author:Kristen Update:May 03,2025

In the eagerly awaited cooperative action game, *Elden Ring Nightreign*, fans might be surprised to learn that the iconic poisonous swamps, a hallmark of From Software's games, will not be making an appearance. This revelation came from the project's product manager, Yasuhiro Kitao, during a recent discussion with journalists. Although a similar setting was showcased in the *Elden Ring Nightreign* trailer, Kitao clarified that it represents an entirely different environment. The reason behind the omission of these notorious swamps? The absence of their most fervent advocate, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the head of From Software known for his affection for such challenging terrains. Miyazaki's influence has led to the inclusion of swamp locations in both *Elden Ring* and the *Dark Souls* series, but he did not participate in the development of this new title.

However, there's exciting news for fans looking forward to more cooperative gameplay options. While *Elden Ring Nightreign* has so far been announced to support one-player and three-player modes, there's a possibility that a two-player mode might be added. The developers initially left out the two-player option due to challenges in balancing the game's content, but From Software is currently contemplating its inclusion. No final decision has been made yet, keeping fans eagerly awaiting further updates.

Mark your calendars: *Elden Ring Nightreign* is set to launch on May 30, 2025, and will be available on PC and two generations of consoles. Stay tuned for more details as the release date approaches.
