Eothas Splinter Relic's Fate Revealed in Avowed

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 24,2025

Deciding whether to give Sargamis the Splinter of Eothas in Avowed is a pivotal early-game choice with significantly different consequences. This guide explores the various outcomes, including a negative ending, a worse one, and a surprisingly positive resolution.

What Happens When You Refuse Sargamis the Splinter?

Refusing Sargamis his splinter initiates a challenging boss fight. He summons spirit allies that primarily target your companion, Kai, while employing swift, far-reaching sword attacks. He's vulnerable to frost spells, making them a useful tactic. Victory rewards you with the Last Light of Day mace, a unique weapon with health regeneration and fire damage enhancements.

What Happens When You Give Sargamis the Splinter?

Agreeing to give Sargamis the splinter presents two main options (plus the option to change your mind, triggering a fight). First, you can persuade him to place himself in the statue, resulting in his death and yielding the Last Light of Day mace. Second, you can offer yourself to the statue, leading to further branching paths. Standing in the designated circle and allowing the process to complete results in your death and the "Get In The Statue, Envoy" achievement. Leaving the circle before activation enrages Sargamis, initiating combat.

The optimal approach involves convincing Sargamis his plan is flawed. This requires an Intellect stat of 4 or higher. Placing the splinter in the statue beforehand, activating the machine, and then demonstrating the plan's failure to Sargamis will lead him to abandon the endeavor. Specific background choices (like Court Augur or Arcane Scholar) may influence dialogue options. After Sargamis departs, you can choose to either allow the voice to use the statue or destroy it yourself. Finally, speaking with Sargamis in his quarters completes the quest, rewarding you with more experience than combat or simply handing over the splinter.
