Evil Dead: The Game Pulled From Storefronts 3 Years After Release, but Servers Will Remain Online

In a surprising turn of events, *Evil Dead: The Game* is no longer available for purchase after its publisher, Saber Interactive, initiated the process of removing it from digital storefronts. Launched in 2022 across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, this asymmetric multiplayer game drew inspiration from the iconic action horror franchise. IGN’s review of *Evil Dead: The Game* awarded it an impressive 8/10, praising it for being "an asymmetric multiplayer game of cat and mouse that’s compelling and exhilarating, despite being rough around the edges - much like the horror/comedies that inspired it."

Despite the launch of a Game of the Year Edition a year later, the game struggled to retain a robust player base. The situation worsened in September 2023 when the planned Nintendo Switch version was canceled and all content development ceased.

Now, three years post-launch, *Evil Dead: The Game* has vanished from digital shelves for good. However, existing owners can breathe a sigh of relief as Saber Interactive has committed to keeping the servers online, ensuring continued play for those who already own the game.

In a statement on the game’s Steam page, Saber Interactive confirmed the removal:

We can confirm we've begun the process of removing the game from digital storefronts. Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to our community, to those who have been part of the game from the very beginning, and those who have recently joined us. We appreciate all of your support.

The decision has led to a wave of negative reviews on the game's Steam page, with many players expressing frustration over the game's removal, feeling that it marks the end of *Evil Dead: The Game*. The overall Steam user review rating remains 'mixed'. A poignant positive review from a player with over 380 hours of gameplay reads, "The end is nigh. It was fun while it lasted, lads. I mean that."

Saber Interactive, known for last year's successful *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2*, continues to expand its portfolio. The studio is currently developing several licensed movie games, including *John Carpenter's Toxic Commando*, *Jurassic Park Survival*, and an untitled *Avatar: The Last Airbender* game. Additionally, *Turok: Origins* and *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3* are also in the works.
