Final Fantasy 14 Is Making A Change To Chaotic Raid Rewards

Final Fantasy 14 has announced significant changes to the reward structure of the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid, set to be implemented in Patch 7.16. This update, driven by player feedback, will enable players to exchange Clouddark Demimateria 1 for Clouddark Demimateria 2, starting January 21. The exchange rate has not been disclosed, but this change is expected to facilitate easier access to sought-after items like the A Half Times Two hairstyle and the Dais of Darkness mount, which require 49 and 75 Clouddark Demimateria 2, respectively.

Introduced on December 24, just a week after the launch of Patch 7.15, the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid challenges up to 24 players to battle against the formidable final boss from A Realm Reborn's World of Darkness. This raid incorporates mechanics from the Eden raid series in Shadowbringers, adding a fresh twist to the encounter. Successful clears reward players with both Clouddark Demimateria 1 and 2, with additional amounts of the latter based on first-time raid completions.

The upcoming Patch 7.16 will not only adjust the reward system but also potentially impact the market board dynamics, as both the hairstyle and mount can be traded. Square Enix has indicated that these adjustments are a direct response to community feedback, hinting at the possibility of further modifications in future updates based on ongoing player input.

While Patch 7.16, set to release on January 21, 2025, will primarily focus on concluding the Dawntrail Role Quest series, major job balance updates are not anticipated. Players eager for such changes will need to wait for Patch 7.2. As Final Fantasy 14 plans to introduce more raid content throughout 2025, the community's feedback will continue to play a crucial role in shaping these developments.
