At Droid Gamers, we receive a wide array of tech, but a projector like the Formovie Episode One is a fresh addition. Designed to enhance your mobile gaming experience by projecting onto a larger screen, this projector caught our attention as an intriguing piece of technology to review.
The Formovie Episode One is marketed as a budget-friendly option, a category where projectors are often prohibitively expensive. We believe it not only meets this goal but exceeds it, despite some minor drawbacks.
Right out of the box, you'll find the projector, a remote (batteries not included), a power cable, and a manual. While it lacks the substantial feel of pricier models, its weight of just three pounds makes it highly portable, perfect for taking on the go.
The connectivity options are somewhat limited, featuring only one USB-A port, one HDMI port, and a single audio jack. This setup is typical for a projector at this price point and should suffice for most users.
In terms of performance, the Episode One holds its own. With 150 ISO lumens, it's not the brightest on the market, especially when compared to laser-based projectors. Our tests showed it struggled in direct sunlight but performed admirably in darker settings, which is to be expected.

It displayed films and TV shows with clarity, and the streaming of games was smooth. For the best image quality, we found it necessary to position the projector at least 10 feet away from the screen. The built-in speaker, however, produced a somewhat tinny sound. While functional, we recommend pairing it with an external speaker for an improved audio experience.
The user interface of the Episode One is one of the best in its class. Its simplicity and ease of use stand out, especially when compared to some of the more complex and expensive projectors we've encountered.
Overall, the Formovie Episode One is an excellent entry-level projector. It may not excel in any single area, but it offers solid performance across the board, making it ideal for casual users looking to dip their toes into the world of projectors.
*When purchasing an Episode One projector before May 27th, you'll also receive a Netflix gift card worth $15/€15. Click here to take advantage of this offer.*
