Fortnite reverses its controversial decision about one of the skins

The iconic Master Chief, star of the Halo franchise and a popular Fortnite skin (despite his helmet), recently returned to the item shop after a two-year hiatus. This joyous occasion, however, was marred by a controversy.

The original release of the Master Chief skin included a special Matte Black style, exclusively awarded to players on Xbox Series S|X. For a considerable period, Epic Games advertised this style as permanently obtainable. The subsequent, abrupt announcement of its removal was therefore met with significant backlash.

Some players even considered legal action, threatening a class-action lawsuit, believing the change violated established terms. However, Epic Games swiftly reversed course within 24 hours. The Matte Black style is now available to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single match on an Xbox Series S|X console.

This reversal appears to be the most prudent outcome. Given the holiday season and the festive spirit of Christmas, such a contentious move would have undoubtedly soured the experience for many.
