In the thrilling world of Freedom Wars Remastered, players take on the role of Sinners in a dystopian future, battling monstrous Abductors to protect humanity. A key to surviving these intense encounters is enhancing your combat prowess through weapon and accessory upgrades. Upgrading your weapons not only boosts their base stats but also allows you to equip modules that enhance your fighting capabilities.
You can start upgrading your weapons and accessories right from the early stages of the game, without needing to wait for mission rewards or enemy drops. This guide will walk you through the process of upgrading weapons and accessories in Freedom Wars Remastered.
To begin upgrading your weapons in Freedom Wars Remastered, you need to progress in the main storyline until you achieve Level 002 Code Clearance. Upon reaching this level, CODE 2 Sinners unlock the Facility Management Function through the Personal Responsibility Portal. This gives you access to the Weapon Development Facility, where you can manage and upgrade all your weapons.
Upgrading requires specific resources and Entitlement Points, but you can lessen the cost by recruiting the help of a Citizen. Various Citizens are available, each providing different reduction rates based on their Facility Manager Aptitude. The process may seem intricate at first, but it becomes intuitive with practice.
Before you finalize an upgrade, you'll be shown a preview of how your weapon's stats will change. In the Weapon Development Facility, you can also add Elements and experiment with Modules and Module Slots to further customize your gear. To upgrade a weapon to a higher Grade, you'll need to purchase the necessary permit from the Claim Entitlement tab on the Window of Liberty.
In the early phases of the main storyline, missions don't typically yield high-Grade weapons as rewards. Although you can buy weapons and combat items from Zakka in The Warren, these are mostly limited to Grade Level 1, making upgrades nearly essential. One of your CODE 3 Exams involves obtaining higher Grade Development Facility Permits, which enable you to upgrade any weapon to your liking and maintain it throughout your journey. You can also donate lower-Grade weapons found during missions to reduce your sentence and earn additional Entitlement Points.
The first weapon upgrade in the Weapon Development Facility also unlocks the "In Search of the Strongest Weapon" trophy/achievement. With more achievements linked to the upgrading system, it's a great incentive for trophy enthusiasts. The substantial damage difference between weapons of varying Grades underscores the importance of investing time in upgrading your gear.
Later in the game, you'll gain access to the Ability Development Facility within Facility Management, opening up even more avenues for enhancing your combat capabilities.
