Bob Gale, the screenwriter behind the beloved Back to the Future trilogy, has firmly shut down any speculation about the franchise's future. Despite ongoing rumors fueled by discussions from the co-creators of the Cobra Kai TV series, Gale remains steadfast in his stance against any further development of the Back to the Future universe.
In a recent interview with People, Gale expressed his frustration with the persistent questions about a potential Back to the Future 4, prequel, or spinoff. "I don't know why they keep talking about that!" he exclaimed. "I mean, do they think that if they say it enough times, we're going to actually do it?" He reiterated his position, stating, "Never. It's just fine the way it is. It's not perfect, but as Bob Zemeckis used to say, 'It's perfect enough.'"

While Gale's comments are definitive, he acknowledges that Hollywood's power could potentially override their decision. However, he humorously noted that it would take extreme measures to change their minds. "If the juggernaut of corporate America or corporate international mishigas says, 'If you don't agree to this, we're going to kill your children,' alright, well, no, we don't want our children killed,'" he quipped.
Moreover, any revival would require the approval of executive producer Steven Spielberg, who Gale believes is equally opposed to furthering the franchise. "Steven Spielberg, of course, he's got to sign off on it too. And Steven, just like Steven won't allow another E.T., he totally respects the fact that we don't want any more Back to the Future. He gets it and always stood behind that. And thank you, Steven," Gale stated.
Gale's sentiments echo his previous responses to fans' hopes for a Back to the Future 4. In February, he bluntly told fans, "People always say, 'When are you going to do Back to the Future 4?' And we say, 'F**k you.'"
