DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn and other members of the Peacemaker crew were caught off guard when they discovered that Warner Bros. Discovery would be reverting the name of its streaming service back to HBO Max during the filming of promotional content for Season 2. Their reactions, captured on camera, are nothing short of hilarious.

The announcement came as a surprise to many when HBO's parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, revealed it would be undoing the rebrand from Max to the original HBO Max name this summer. This decision has left not only fans but also key figures at DC Studios puzzled and amused.

The official X account of the soon-to-be-renamed Max shared the recorded reactions of Gunn and Peacemaker star John Cena shortly after the announcement. In the video, Gunn and Cena were seen reading from a teleprompter, promoting the upcoming Season 2 of Peacemaker, set to premiere on August 21. As Gunn was speaking, he stumbled upon the name change in the script, expressing his surprise and confusion about calling it HBO Max again. He humorously remarked, "God, we’re calling it HBO Max – what? We’re calling it HBO Max again?" Other crew members, including DC Studios Co-CEO Peter Safran, joined in the confusion, making for a memorable and amusing moment.

Cena, on the other hand, appeared to be in the know and was seen breaking the news to some of the people behind the camera, adding another layer of humor to the situation.

While it's possible that this could be an elaborate publicity stunt by the HBO Max team, the genuine reactions from Gunn and the crew make for an entertaining spectacle. It's fascinating to see such prominent figures in the DC universe react to the streamer's latest rebranding efforts.

HBO Max initially launched in 2020 as a comprehensive streaming platform. It retained its name until 2023 when Warner Bros. Discovery, following their merger, decided to rebrand it to simply Max. However, after two years of using the new name, the company has now decided to revert to the original HBO Max moniker.

No specific date for the rebranding has been set yet. As we await further updates on both HBO Max and Peacemaker Season 2, fans can explore the most anticipated DC projects scheduled for 2025 and delve into the key highlights from the latest trailer for Peacemaker Season 2.
