Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman in the previous DC Extended Universe, is set to portray the iconic Lobo in the upcoming 2026 DC Universe film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The Minecraft Movie actor recently offered a glimpse into what fans can expect from this highly anticipated debut.

Lobo, an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia, possesses superhuman strength and immortality. A last survivor of his destroyed world, much like Superman, Lobo was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, first appearing in Omega Men #3 (1983).

Momoa, a self-proclaimed Lobo fan, has expressed his excitement about taking on the role, citing aesthetic similarities between himself and the character. In an interview with ScreenRant, he teased Lobo's appearance in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, hinting at a memorable, albeit brief, presence.

"Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play," Momoa stated. "That’s the comic I loved, so I'm really nervous about it. It’s kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It's pretty big. I don't want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he’s pretty rough and gruff and… I'll say the bike’s really cool.”

When pressed about Lobo's screen time, Momoa clarified: “It’s her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit.”

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.

In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared a first look at Milly Alcock as Supergirl, though details remained scarce. A Bluesky post announced the commencement of filming for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, starring Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl.

The film, based heavily on Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira's graphic novel, centers on Ruthye Marye Knoll, an alien girl who enlists Supergirl's aid in avenging her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. Matthias Schoenaerts portrays Krem, with Eve Ridley as Ruthye. The cast also includes David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother, and Jason Momoa.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, slated for a June 2026 release, is the second film in the rebooted DC Universe, following James Gunn's Superman this summer. The DCU's Clayface movie is scheduled for September 2026.
