League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan Feedback

League of Legends is bringing back Hextech Chests, responding to significant player feedback. Read on to learn about this update and other changes coming to LoL.

League of Legends Reverses Course on Unpopular Changes

The Return of Hextech Chests

Following player feedback, League of Legends (LoL) is reinstating Hextech Chests. In a developer update published February 27, 2025, and a corresponding YouTube video, Riot Games detailed upcoming changes. Riot acknowledged that recent updates missed the mark for many players, stating, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."

The return of Hextech Chests was a key request from the community. Riot explained, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark." Hextech Chests will return in patch 25.05, with players able to earn up to 10 chests and keys per act. Eight chests will be available through the free pass, and two will be earned via the Honor system.

Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and Further Community-Driven Adjustments

Riot Games announced a delay for the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, aiming for a higher quality release. They stated, "We want to take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay also affects the entire Exalted skin line, meaning the planned release of one skin per act this year will not occur.

Responding to further player feedback, LoL will replace a non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence, acknowledging player concerns about a lack of Mythic Essence in the paid pass and the number of champions per seasonal theme.

Addressing player accessibility, LoL will reduce the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50%, effective with patch 25.05.

Finally, in response to community feedback regarding Clash, LoL is reinstating the monthly Clash schedule. March will feature an ARURF Clash event, followed by a regular SR Clash in April.

The Return of the Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop

Popular features, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, are returning this year. Your Shop is slated for patch 25.06, and the Emporium for 25.07.

Riot Games concluded, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments." This response indicates Riot Games' commitment to incorporating player feedback to improve the game. League of Legends remains free-to-play on PC. Visit our League of Legends page for the latest news.
