Leaked Date Claims Nintendo Switch 2 Announcement

Nintendo Switch 2: Official Reveal Imminent?

Reliable sources suggest the Nintendo Switch 2 will be officially unveiled on Thursday, January 16th, 2025. This aligns with previous reports indicating mass production began in late September/early October 2024, and Nintendo's commitment to an announcement before the end of their fiscal year (March 31st). The timing also echoes the original Switch reveal, which also occurred on a Thursday in 2016. This information comes from NateTheHate, a well-known and generally accurate leaker, and has been corroborated by other sources.

Extensive Leaks Precede Official Announcement

The Switch 2's existence has been an open secret for months, with numerous hardware leaks and specifications circulating online. The sheer volume of leaked information even prompted a rare public acknowledgment from Nintendo regarding a replica console. Reported specifications include a slightly larger form factor (270 x 116 x 14mm) than the Switch OLED model, an 8-inch LCD screen, and magnetically attaching Joy-Cons. The right Joy-Con is rumored to feature an additional "C" button, potentially related to a speculated mouse-like pointer function.

Launch Title Lineup Remains Uncertain

While the hardware details are relatively clear, the Switch 2's launch game lineup remains shrouded in mystery. While titles like My Time at Evershine and Bestiario have been confirmed, neither is expected to be a day-one release if the console launches in the first half of 2025. Nintendo is likely to leverage at least one or two major first-party titles to drive initial sales.

It remains to be seen if Nintendo will follow the precedent set by the original Switch and release a teaser ahead of the official January 16th announcement. Regardless, the upcoming reveal is unlikely to surprise many given the extensive pre-release information already available.
