The newest addition to LEGO's expansive Star Wars lineup is the Battle Droid with STAP set. This impressive build combines play functionality (with its 12+ age recommendation) and display appeal (including a stand with placard), making it equally suitable for younger builders and adult collectors alike.

This build features a B1-series battle droid, identical to those seen throughout the Star Wars prequel trilogy. While the LEGO version appears slightly bulkier than its cinematic counterparts (likely for structural stability), it captures the droid's iconic appearance remarkably well.

The set includes 10 numbered bags of bricks, a detailed instruction manual, and decal stickers. Construction begins with the torso before moving to limbs and head. The articulated hands feature movable fingers designed to grip accessories securely.

The ball-joint connections allow extensive pose customization by adjusting the balance points. This mobility helps achieve stable standing positions regardless of the pose selected.

Compared to other LEGO figure sets, this battle droid features superior design. Though slightly thicker than movie-accurate proportions, details like knee gears and forearm connectors create an authentic appearance. Strategic sticker placement elevates the visual appeal.
After completing the droid, builders assemble its E-5 blaster rifle and accompanying microfighter-scale version. The final portion includes constructing the STAP (Single Trooper Aerial Platform) speeder - the Trade Federation aerial vehicle featured during Naboo's invasion.

The STAP build begins with a colorful internal frame that facilitates construction before being covered by uniform brown plating. This technique results in smooth contours while aiding the building process.

The completed speeder features secure handholds for the droid and stable footrests. With its wide base and sturdy construction, the entire set makes an exceptional display piece. Star Wars prequel enthusiasts will particularly appreciate this well-designed build.
