"Mandalorian and Grogu Update Enhances Millennium Falcon Ride - Star Wars Celebration"

Author:Kristen Update:Jun 17,2025

Star Wars Celebration brought exciting new updates for the upcoming *Mandalorian and Grogu*-themed experience coming to *Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run*. Set to debut on May 22, 2026, this immersive update expands the attraction’s narrative with fresh characters, locations, and interactive elements inspired by the highly anticipated film. While the storyline will take a different path from the movie, both Din Djarin and Grogu will play pivotal roles in thrilling new sequences that deepen guest engagement.

One of the most notable additions is the expanded role of the Engineer during the mission. This time around, Engineers will be directly responsible for looking after Grogu while aboard the Razor Crest. As guests navigate the high-stakes action, they’ll also have opportunities to interact with the beloved little green Force-user—potentially even communicating with him via comms when Mando steps off the ship. According to Walt Disney Imagineering’s Asa Kalama, these moments are designed to create fun, spontaneous interactions: “There may be times when Mando has to deboard the Razor Crest and Grogu, left to his own devices, might get a little happy on the control panel. We love the idea of there being these fun little vignettes and moments where you're sort of on the comm with Grogu.”

Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Missions Across Iconic Star Wars Worlds

The updated experience introduces a dynamic, branching storyline that gives guests more agency than ever before. During a crucial moment in the mission, players will face a time-sensitive decision: which bounty to pursue. This choice determines the planets visited during the adventure, with destinations including Tatooine, Bespin, Endor, and now Coruscant—an exciting addition that broadens the galactic scope of the ride.

Kalama elaborated on this new gameplay mechanic: “There will be a critical moment in your adventure where you’re strapped for time and have to make a lightning quick decision about which of our particular bounties we want to pursue. That’s going to be the sort of inciting incident that allows us to decide which are the different destinations we go to.” This adaptive storytelling brings replayability and variety to each ride-through, making every journey feel unique.

Hondo Ohnaka Sets the Stage for Adventure

In true Star Wars fashion, Hondo Ohnaka returns as a central figure, setting up the mission by catching wind of a secret deal on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and pirates. From there, guests join forces with Din Djarin and Grogu to track down the culprits and claim the bounty in an interstellar chase packed with action, humor, and iconic Star Wars moments.

While full story details remain under wraps, concept art released at Star Wars Celebration offers a glimpse into the visual richness of the updated experience. The newly shared visuals highlight key environments, character designs, and scenes featuring Mando, Grogu, and other familiar faces across the galaxy far, far away.
