Marvel Reportedly Pauses Work on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. TV Shows

Author:Kristen Update:May 04,2025

Recent reports have indicated that Marvel Television has temporarily paused development on three anticipated shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. According to sources cited by Deadline, these projects were never officially greenlit, leaving open the possibility of future release. However, Marvel has evidently shifted its focus, adjusting its strategic priorities in the process.

This shift coincides with Marvel Studios gearing up for the release of the Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. In a recent statement, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ head of streaming and TV, hinted at exciting developments, revealing plans to possibly reunite the street-level heroes from Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—collectively known as The Defenders.

Marvel Studios has adopted a strategy of developing more shows than it ultimately produces. As Brad Winderbaum noted in an interview with Screen Rant last year, “We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next.” This cautious approach underscores Marvel's commitment to quality over quantity.

The news regarding Nova comes as a surprise, especially since just two months ago, it was announced that Ed Bernero, formerly of Criminal Minds, had joined the project as writer and showrunner, with Nova set for Disney+. Strange Academy was slated to focus on a magical school established by the MCU's Doctor Strange, with Wong at the helm. Details about Terror, Inc. remain scarce.

Looking ahead, here are the confirmed release dates for Marvel's upcoming TV shows: Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney+ on March 4, Ironheart follows on June 24, and Wonder Man is slated for a December release. On the movie front, following the launch of Captain America: Brave New World, fans can look forward to Thunderbolts in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps later in the year.
