NetEase is set to roll out an innovative experimental feature in Marvel Rivals that promises to enhance the game's stability and significantly reduce memory usage. Announced via a Twitter (X) post on April 30, the upcoming Switch Shader Compilation Mode aims to deliver a smoother gaming experience, particularly for players with lower RAM setups or those experiencing FPS issues.

Marvel Rivals has shared a detailed blog post on their website, addressing the community's concerns about performance stutters and crashes due to high memory consumption during gameplay.

According to the blog, "To tackle memory overload, we're introducing an experimental feature in Season 2: the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. With the Season 2 update, players can activate this feature through the PC launcher." This feature is especially recommended for players with 16GB of RAM or less.

Upon activation, the game will see improvements in the following areas:

  • The shader compilation process will only run when first entering the game after a new game version or graphics driver update.
  • Game memory usage will be dramatically reduced, minimizing severe FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes caused by memory shortages.

However, the developers have acknowledged some known issues with this feature. For instance, at the start of each match, some materials may render abnormally for a few frames before returning to normal. Additionally, minor stutters may occur initially but should stabilize for the rest of the match.
