Marvel Rivals mods with Trump and Biden removed, Nexus Mods owner threatened

Marvel's Rivals found itself in hot water after a deluge of over 500 mods flooded the Nexus Mods website in a single month. A firestorm erupted when Nexus Mods removed modifications that replaced Captain America's head with images of Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

Nexus Mods owner, TheDarkOne, addressed the controversy in a private Reddit discussion. He clarified that both the Trump and Biden mods were removed simultaneously to prevent accusations of partisan bias. "We removed the Biden mod on the same day as the Trump mod to avoid bias," he explained. "But for some reason, YouTube bloggers are silent about it."

The fallout, however, didn't stop there. TheDarkOne reported receiving threats following the mods' removal. "Today we're receiving death threats, being called pedophiles, and enduring all sorts of insults simply because someone decided to stir up this issue," he added.

This isn't the first time Nexus Mods has faced backlash over mod removals. In 2022, a Spider-Man Remastered mod that replaced rainbow flags with American flags was removed. At the time, the site's owners publicly declared their commitment to inclusivity and their policy of removing content that violates those principles.

TheDarkOne concluded, "We're not going to waste our time on people who think this is cause for uproar."
