Dive into the latest updates from Marvel Rivals, where the developers have made a significant U-turn on their player rank reset policy following widespread fan feedback. Learn about the upcoming changes and new developments that await you in the game.
Marvel Rivals has reversed its previous decision on player rank resets after a wave of fan complaints. The official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account announced this change in their latest update, Dev Talk 11, addressing the community's concerns about the seasonal rank adjustments.
Originally, the game's Dev Talk 10 introduced a system where players' ranks would be reset mid-season, causing them to drop down four divisions. This proposal faced immediate backlash from the community, who found it discouraging, especially for those striving to advance through the ranks. The proposed 45-day reset cycle was a significant point of contention.
Responding to the feedback, Marvel Rivals confirmed in Dev Talk 11 that there will be no mid-season rank resets. Players will now keep their scores and ranks from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season reset will still occur, with players dropping down six divisions.
Despite the reversal on the rank reset policy, Marvel Rivals is moving forward with other exciting updates. The introduction of new heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, is still on track, bringing the total roster to 39 heroes. NetEase Games has committed to adding two new playable characters each season, with each season spanning three months.
Rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above will remain the same. Those who achieve Gold rank after the update will receive a free Invisible Woman costume, while those at Grandmaster and above will be awarded Crests of Honor. At the end of the season, new rewards will be available for Gold rank players, including another free costume and additional Crests of Honor for Grandmaster and above.
While balance adjustments are expected post mid-season update, specific details on these changes are yet to be announced.
The swift response from Marvel Rivals to the community's feedback highlights their commitment to listening to their players. Just hours after the initial announcement in Dev Talk 10, they released Dev Talk 11 to address the concerns.
Marvel Rivals emphasized their dedication to the community, stating, "We strive to make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be, and the community is the driving force behind this mission! [...] Your engagement and support mean the world to us, and we're excited to continue this journey together!"
The upcoming Marvel Rivals mid-season update is scheduled for February 21, 2025. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with the latest news by visiting our Marvel Rivals page.
