MCU Easter Egg Hints at New Marvel Hero

Marvel Rivals: Wong's Potential Addition Sparks Fan Speculation

A newly discovered Easter egg in the upcoming Marvel Rivals Season 1 has ignited speculation among players regarding the potential addition of Wong to the game's roster. The game, a multiplayer hero shooter drawing comparisons to Overwatch, has already amassed over 10 million players in its first 72 hours, generating significant anticipation for the upcoming content release on January 10th.

Season 1, titled "Eternal Night," introduces Dracula as the main antagonist, leading fans to predict a focus on supernatural Marvel characters. The inclusion of the Fantastic Four (with alternate skins for the Maker and Malice) further supports this theory.

However, a Reddit user, fugo_hate, on r/marvelrivals, highlighted a brief glimpse of a Wong portrait in the trailer for the new Sanctum Sanctorum map. This subtle detail has fueled speculation about Wong's future inclusion as a playable character, sparking discussions about his potential magical abilities within the game.

The possibility isn't entirely unfounded. Wong's popularity has skyrocketed thanks to Benedict Wong's MCU portrayal, and he's previously appeared in various Marvel games, albeit often in non-playable roles (Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2), or playable roles in mobile titles (Marvel Contest of Champions, Marvel Snap).

While the painting could simply be a tribute to Doctor Strange's ally, its presence within the Sanctum Sanctorum map, brimming with supernatural Marvel references, adds intrigue. Regardless, Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night launches later this week, bringing three new locations, a new Doom Match mode, and the playable Fantastic Four. The mystery of Wong's potential addition remains, adding another layer of excitement to the game's already anticipated launch.
