Morpeko Joins Pokémon GO for Halloween!

Get ready, trainers! Halloween in Pokémon GO is just around the corner, and Niantic has shared all the exciting details for Part 1 of the event. Mark your calendars because Part 2 is coming soon as well, packed with even more spooky surprises and thrilling encounters.

The Halloween festivities will begin on Tuesday, October 22nd, at 10:00 a.m. local time, and continue until Monday, October 28th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Get ready to immerse yourself in the Halloween spirit like never before!

What’s In Store?

The star of the show for this event is none other than Morpeko, making its much-anticipated debut in Pokémon GO. This Electric/Dark-type Pokémon brings unique mechanics to the table, particularly when facing off against Team GO Rocket or in the GO Battle League.

Morpeko’s ability to switch between Full Belly Mode and Hangry Mode mid-battle, triggered by the Charged Attack it uses, is a sight to behold. In Full Belly Mode, you can unleash Aura Wheel (Electric), boasting a powerful 100 power and increasing the user’s Attack. Switch to Hangry Mode, and Aura Wheel transforms into a Dark-type move, yet retains its 100-power punch and boosts your Attack.

During the Halloween event, you'll have a higher chance of encountering Morpeko in the premium track of the GO Battle League. After the event, Morpeko will remain available starting at Rank 16, but you’ll find it more frequently on the premium side.

Pokémon GO is ramping up the spooky atmosphere with special holiday-themed décor. If you’re a fan of the eerie Lavender Town theme, you’re in for a treat. A remix of the classic music will play every night during the Halloween event. Don’t miss out on this hauntingly beautiful Lavender Town video:

Another highlight of the Halloween event is the introduction of Dynamax Gastly in one-star Max Battles. Alongside Gastly, you'll also encounter Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble in these battles.

From October 22nd to November 3rd, you can participate in the free Timed Research, which focuses on Spiritomb and its 108 spirits. Completing these tasks will reward you with encounters featuring Halloween-themed Pokémon, including Spiritomb and Morpeko.
