NetherRealm Studios has unveiled the first gameplay footage for the T-1000, the final DLC character for Mortal Kombat 1's Khaos Reigns expansion, and simultaneously announced Madam Bo as a new Kameo fighter.

The T-1000's gameplay showcases a range of attacks reminiscent of Terminator 2, including blade and hook arm maneuvers similar to Baraka and Kabal. A striking moment features the T-1000 transforming into liquid metal before launching a Glacius-esque uppercut. Robert Patrick, the original T-1000 actor, provides the voice and likeness, heard for the first time in a confrontation with Johnny Cage. The trailer culminates in a Fatality recreating the iconic Terminator 2 truck chase scene, with the T-1000 emerging to gun down Cage.

The surprise addition of Madam Bo, a popular character from the base game's storyline, as a DLC Kameo fighter was also revealed. Brief gameplay glimpses show her assisting the T-1000.

The T-1000 becomes available March 18th for early access (Khaos Reigns owners), followed by general release on March 25th. Madam Bo launches March 18th as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners or a standalone purchase.

The T-1000 concludes the Khaos Reigns DLC roster, which also includes Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian. Speculation regarding a potential third DLC pack or Kombat Pack 3 persists, fueled by the game's sales performance. However, Warner Bros. Discovery's commitment to the Mortal Kombat franchise remains strong, with CEO David Zaslav highlighting it as one of four key titles for future investment.

Madam Bo joins the Mortal Kombat 1 roster as a Kameo fighter.

Ed Boon, NetherRealm's creative director, previously stated that their next project was decided three years ago, while assuring continued support for Mortal Kombat 1. While many anticipate a third installment in the Injustice series, official confirmation remains pending. Boon cited the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to Unreal Engine 4 (from Unreal Engine 3 used in Mortal Kombat 11) as key factors influencing the decision to develop another Mortal Kombat title before returning to Injustice. He explicitly confirmed that the Injustice franchise remains a possibility.
